Do you work with my sport?
Does sports hypnosis work for my sport? Whatever you play, yes. I work with athletes across rugby, soccer, athletics, golf, fighting, hurling and powerlifting, and plenty more besides. The reason I can say yes before you even tell me your sport is the same reason your sport was never really the problem.
"I play soccer, does this apply to me?"
"I fight, is this just for golfers?"
"I run, it's not really a mental sport, is it?"
Every athlete asks a version of the same question, in their own sport's language. The answer does not change with the sport.
The sport changes the trigger. It never changes the mechanism.
In 30 seconds, if you are reading this on your phone between sessions:
- Every sport has a different trigger, the exact moment you go tight. Rugby, soccer, athletics, golf, fighting, hurling, powerlifting and more, all different moments, all the same story.
- Every athlete has the same mechanism underneath it. A subconscious survival program, not a character flaw.
- Skill coaching fixes the conscious 5 percent. The freeze lives in the other 95.
- The free 7-Day Athlete's Edge Reset is the first pass at that program. Seven days, one short session a day, whatever you play.
The 3 a.m. version of the problem
You know the version of you that shows up in training. Loose. Fast. Making decisions before you have finished thinking them. Your coach sees it, your teammates see it, you see it.
Then the whistle goes, or the bar is loaded, or the gun fires, or the first tee is announced, and a different athlete walks out. Tight shoulders. A brain that is suddenly very interested in what everyone is thinking. Hands and legs that do not feel like yours.
Afterwards you go through it again. And the story you tell yourself is always about the sport. The pitch was too heavy. The ref was against us. The crowd. The weigh-in. The lad you were marking.
Sound familiar?
That story is comfortable because it keeps the problem outside you. But it also keeps the fix outside you, which is why nothing you have tried has stuck.
One mechanism, every sport
Rugby players go tight before contact or over a kick with the clock red. Soccer players go tight on the penalty spot. Athletes go tight on the start line and in the closing stages. Golfers go tight over a four-foot putt. Fighters go tight in the ring walk and the first exchange. Hurlers go tight standing over a placed ball. Powerlifters go tight on the third attempt.
Different sport, different moment, same freeze. And that list is not the whole list. Whatever you play, if there is a moment where the trained version of you disappears, that moment is your trigger.
Every one of those moments hits the same circuit. Your subconscious runs a survival program. It is old, it is fast, and it does not know the difference between a penalty shootout and a genuine threat. When it reads a moment as high stakes, it fires the fear circuit, and you get one of four outcomes: flight, fight, freeze or faint. In sport that looks like rushing, forcing, locking up, or quietly taking your foot off the gas.
This is why the conscious tools — the pep talk, the deep breath, the "just relax" — never hold. They are aimed at the thinking part of you. The freeze does not live there. The conscious mind is slow and deliberate. The subconscious is lightning fast, and in a pressure moment, fast wins every time.
Would you agree that if the mechanism is the same for all of these sports, the fix does not need to know exactly what sport you play either?
Why sport-specific coaching keeps missing
This is the bit that costs athletes years.
Skill coaching works on the conscious side. It is brilliant at it. It will fix your grip, your pre-shot routine, your tackle technique, your finishing near goal, your bar path. None of it matters if the survival program fires the second the moment gets real, because at that point you are not running your technique. You are running the program. That gap between training-you and competition-you is exactly what sports hypnosis is built to close.
You can spend another season adding tools to the conscious side and still walk out on match day, on the platform, in the ring, as the tight version of yourself. What did it cost you last season? A place on the panel? A number you know you had in you? A game you should have won?
Doing nothing has a price. It is just paid quietly, one competition at a time.
How sports hypnosis actually changes it
Sports hypnosis works at the level where the program actually runs. That is the whole point of it.
I use a four-step method, PRIME, TRIGGER, REWIRE, LOCK, and notice that the word trigger is right there in the middle of it. We find the exact moment your program fires, we go to the level where the program lives, and we rewrite what fires in its place. Then we lock it so it holds under real pressure, not just on the couch. The sport only matters at step two. It tells me where to look.
Three athletes, three sports, one method:
- Duncan Casey, former Munster Rugby. Signed a professional contract two weeks after one session.
- Liam Beville, World Champion powerlifter and Guinness World Record holder at 57. Same platform, same bar, different program running underneath.
- Andrew Clair, competitive runner. Around thirty seconds faster after one session. The legs did not change in a week. What was running them did.
Contact, strength, endurance. Three sports with nothing in common except the method that fixed them.
If I could show you how to stay calm at your trigger, whatever sport puts you there, would that be worth seven days?
Your sport, in one sentence
Try this. Finish the sentence: "In my sport, the moment I go tight is…"
If you can finish it, you have found your trigger. That is the only sport-specific part of this whole thing, and you just did it in ten seconds.
The rest is the mechanism, and the mechanism is what the free 7-Day Athlete's Edge Reset is built to start rewiring. Seven days, one short session a day, no filming yourself, no journaling homework. Does that make sense?
Does sports hypnosis work for my sport? Quick answers
Which sports do you work with?
Mainly rugby, soccer, athletics, golf, fighting sports such as boxing and MMA, hurling and powerlifting, and more besides. The method is not built around any one sport, so if yours is not on that list, it still applies.
What if my sport isn't listed here?
It still works. The trigger changes with the sport, the mechanism underneath it does not. If you can name the exact moment you go tight in your sport, that is enough to start with.
Does it matter if my sport is a team sport or an individual one?
No. Team sports tend to trigger at a set piece where the game briefly pauses, individual sports tend to trigger at the start or the moment of highest consequence. Both are the same survival program firing at a different cue.
How fast does sports hypnosis work?
Faster than most athletes expect, because we are not building a new skill, we are changing which program runs. Duncan Casey and Andrew Clair both saw measurable results after one session. The free Reset gives you seven days to feel the first shift yourself.

Start with your trigger. Fix the mechanism.
If your sport was never the problem, and the thing that goes tight is the same thing whether you play rugby, soccer, athletics, golf, a fighting sport, hurling, powerlifting or something else entirely, doesn't it make sense to work on that thing for seven days and see what changes?
